Björn Aasa, MaSci, RPT, is a certified physiotherapist and a leading European expert in myoskeletal medicine and musculoskeletal pain. He received his Master of Science degree in Physiotherapy from Umeå University. As part of his doctoral studies, as a member of the university research team, he participates in many scientific projects and clinical studies, e.g. on the topic of rehabilitation of patients with nociceptive mechanical lower back pain, the importance of motor control and movement control in the evaluation and rehabilitation of patients with musculoskeletal disorders or the relationship between physical activity and capacity and musculoskeletal pain.
In 2015, he received the “JOSPT 2015 Excellence in Research” award from the Journal of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy in the category of scientific awards. He has long been teaching manual orthopedic therapy and musculoskeletal disorders.
From 2009 to 2015, he was the President of the Swedish Orthopedic Manual Therapy Organization.
